Police Arrest 'Sister Phu', Southern Loan Shark Mastermind Behind Kidnapping and Murder
The Crime Suppression Division has solved a kidnapping case by capturing 'Sister Phu', a major underground loan shark from Southern Thailand. The operation targeted former rogue police officers from Trang who were hired to kidnap and kill one of her own debt collectors. Investigators conducted a widespread search across 10 locations in Trang, Krabi, and Surat Thani provinces, ultimately arresting four suspects, including former police officers. The case involves the kidnapping and murder of Surasak Chaithawip, 22, a former debt collector who was allegedly embezzling money. On February 1st, 2024, law enforcement officers from Criminal Operation Division 6 successfully arrested Anantaya (known as 'Sister Phu'), who was wanted under court warrant 550/2569 issued on January 28th. She was charged with "hiring others to commit crimes, including illegal detention for ransom, extortion, and violent abduction". The motive appears to stem from Surasak repeatedly embezzling significant amounts of money collected from debtors. As a result, Anantaya allegedly hired a team to kidnap, detain, and ultimately kill him, leaving his body in a palm plantation near Khao Chingcho Road in Chaiburi, Phatthalung province.
