Dramatic Rescue: Foreign Female Tourist Slips and Falls into Deep Ravine at Pai Canyon
At 8:30 AM on January 30, 2024, rescue workers from Tung Yao Subdistrict in Pai, Mae Hong Son, were alerted to a foreign female tourist who had fallen into a deep ravine while walking and enjoying the natural views at Kong Lan, a famous tourist attraction. After receiving the alert, rescue workers coordinated with the high-altitude rescue team from Pai Samakkhi Charity Rescue and Tung Yao rescue services. The accident site was extremely steep, requiring rescuers to carefully rappel down to help the tourist. They successfully rescued the tourist and brought her to safety, with an ambulance then transporting her to Pai Hospital. Pai Canyon, also known as Kong Lan, is a sandy rock formation with winding mountain ridges. Some areas have gravel, making it easy to slip if not careful. Tourists have fallen here almost every year, despite warning signs being in place.
