Boxing Camp Owner's Son Surrenders After Fatal Pub Stabbing
On January 31st, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sewek Chusiri of Chiang Phueak Police Station reported a violent stabbing incident at a popular pub in Mueang District, Chiang Mai. The incident occurred around 1:45 AM, involving a knife-fight that left three people seriously injured, with one later dying. The first victim, Khwanphon (last name withheld), 31, was stabbed in the left chest and died at the hospital. Phuwadech, 27, was stabbed in the abdomen and is currently receiving treatment, along with Aphichat, 42, who was also stabbed in the abdomen. Initial investigations revealed that the victims had attended a party and later went to the pub. A dispute arose over table seating when the pub staff allowed them to sit at another group's table. After returning the table and preparing to leave, the victims were ambushed outside by the suspects. At 12:30 PM, the main suspect, Suphatchai (last name withheld), 28, a son of a boxing camp owner, surrendered with his lawyer. He admitted to the stabbing but claimed it was in self-defense, stating he believed the victims were waiting to attack him. Two additional suspects were present but did not directly participate in the stabbing. Authorities have charged the suspects with intentional murder and unauthorized weapon carrying, and will continue gathering evidence for legal proceedings.
