Authorities Raid Russian Bar in Thalang, Arrest 2 Suspects for Illegal Operations

On February 15, 2024, provincial officials led by Rung-reung Thimabut, the Phuket Provincial Secretary, conducted a special operation targeting the SAFARI LOUNGE BAR located at 49 Ban Don-Cherng Talay Road in Thalang District, Phuket. The establishment, run by Russian nationals, was found operating illegally, including hosting music performances beyond permitted hours and selling hookah. During the raid, authorities discovered multiple violations including operating without proper licensing, selling hookah and electronic cigarettes, employing undocumented foreign workers, and serving alcohol outside legal hours. Two suspects were arrested and faced six serious charges, with evidence and cash seized during the operation. Investigators found numerous foreign tourists inside the venue, with a Russian national named Mr. Kamil managing the establishment and several Myanmar nationals working as staff. The operation was conducted following a tip from local citizens.
