Royal Ceremony - 18 Regional Monasteries to Chant Buddhist Prayers for Royal Funeral
His Majesty the King graciously granted permission for 18 regional royal monasteries to perform religious chanting for the royal funeral of Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Royal Palace. This royal permission is considered an immeasurable act of grace and the highest honor for monastic representatives nationwide. The opportunity reflects the equality, unity, and strength of Thai Buddhist clergy from all regions.
The 18 regional royal monasteries include temples from provinces such as Nakhon Pathom, Phetchaburi, Chiang Rai, Udon Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phang Nga, Songkhla, and others.
Culture Minister Sabida Thaiseth noted that the monks will chant using traditional royal methods, including 'Ka' and 'Sorapat' styles, emphasizing rhythmic, solemn, and harmonious chanting that reflects valuable cultural heritage.
The religious ceremony will begin on February 2nd, 2569 at 7:00 PM at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall, with monks chanting alongside Bangkok monastery representatives until the royal cremation.
