CAAT Closely Monitors Airline Ticket Prices During Chinese New Year, Confirms No Price Ceiling Breaches
The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) is closely monitoring domestic flight ticket prices during the Chinese New Year holiday period for travel between February 18-22, 2024. Ticket prices are still within the established price ceiling, but prices are trending upward and many flights are already sold out, reflecting a significant increase in travel demand, particularly on routes to and from Southern provinces like Phuket and Hat Yai. CAAT has also investigated ticket pricing on Online Travel Agent (OTA) platforms and found some abnormally high prices, prompting airlines to quickly verify and correct any discrepancies. CAAT recommends passengers check ticket prices from multiple channels before purchasing, and if possible, buy directly from airlines where prices are set within approved limits. The agency advises travelers to plan ahead, especially during peak travel seasons, to increase chances of finding suitable ticket prices.
