Alarming Earthquake of Magnitude 3.2 Strikes Ban Ta Khun in Surat Thani
On February 12, at 8:30 AM, the Geological Disaster Operations Center of the Department of Mineral Resources reported earthquake activities between February 11-12, 2569. A cluster of earthquakes ranging from 1.9-3.2 in magnitude occurred 9 times in the Khao Phang Subdistrict, Ban Ta Khun District, Surat Thani Province. The largest earthquake was magnitude 3.2 at a depth of 2 kilometers, occurring on February 12 at 2:07 AM. The cause was the movement of the Khlong Marui fault line, which runs in a northeast-southwest direction with a left lateral strike slip fault movement.
