6-Year-Old Girl Found Dead After Being Swept Away by River Current
The tragic incident occurred on January 29th near the Leang Hin Dam on the Ping River in Khlong Khlung District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. Two young girls were swept away by the strong current, with one fisherman managing to rescue a 5-year-old girl, while the 6-year-old remained missing. Rescue teams continued searching for days, with the family consulting a spirit medium who claimed water spirits were preventing the child's body from surfacing. On February 1st at 10:20 AM, Ratchanon Satyakam, the village headman, and local officials found the girl's body 3 kilometers downstream, caught in bamboo thickets along the riverbank. Medical officials discovered the body was partially decomposed, with signs of animal scavenging - the left arm was missing, and there were bite marks on the head and face. The body was wrapped and placed in a coffin, awaiting religious funeral rites amid the family's profound grief. Ratchanon Satyakam reported that after more than 60 hours of searching, they finally located the decomposing body of the 6-year-old girl, which had already begun to show signs of decay and animal predation.
