Student Crossing Road Nearly Hit by Pickup Truck, Teacher Saves in Time
A student was crossing the road when a teacher blew a whistle and signaled vehicles to stop. A white 4-door pickup truck approached at high speed, ignoring all stop signals. The mathematics teacher, Kalabadin Benchamat, was monitoring students crossing and quickly blocked the students to prevent them from being hit when the truck refused to slow down. The incident occurred on February 4th at 4:30 PM near Khon Kaen Airport School. Police later tracked down the 70-year-old driver, who claimed he was urgently heading to the hospital for a lung check. Traffic police issued a maximum fine of 2,000 baht for not reducing speed near a crosswalk and deducted driving points according to law.
