Zoo Responds to Trai Scott's Drama about 'Moo Deng' the Hippo, Explains Defecation as Natural Behavior
The zoo responded to Trai Scott's social media post about the hippo 'Moo Deng', addressing concerns about the animal's living conditions. Trai Scott, a fourth-generation heir to Singh Corporation, had posted images criticizing the hippo's current living environment, calling it sad and just a business asset. The page admin of 'Pork Leg and the Gang' intervened, suggesting that the zoo has plans for a hippo village and means well. Narong Withi Chot Choi, director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo, explained that hippos naturally defecate in water and that keepers clean the enclosure every morning according to international animal welfare standards. The zoo is awaiting budget approval for a 75 million baht project to create a 10-rai hippo habitat, currently housing 6 dwarf and 7 large hippos.
