Si Sa Ket Confident in Hosting King's Cup Football Tournament Without Issues
Dr. Sirisak Angkaskulkiat, President of the Provincial Sports Association, is confident that Si Sa Ket (the Lam Duon Flower City) will have no problems hosting the King's Cup football tournament, and insists that border issues will not impact the event. The Football Association of Thailand has announced applications for provinces ready to host the 52nd King's Cup tournament in November, with applications open until March 31st. Dr. Sirisak revealed that Si Sa Ket has previously hosted several national-level events, including national sports and youth sports competitions. He previously attempted to host the King's Cup but missed out, instead hosting a friendly match for the Thai national team during FIFA Day (Thailand's warm-up match with Turkmenistan on May 27, 2022). Dr. Sirisak confirmed that Si Sa Ket will definitely apply to host the 52nd King's Cup, as the province has long wanted to host this football tournament. Previous national team matches in the area drew large crowds, demonstrating the region's passion for football. He is also confident that tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border will not affect the tournament, as the city is far from conflict areas. As an example, he cited the Thailand World Music Championship 2025, which attracted many international visitors without any issues.
