On February 13, 2024, police officers from Chaiyaphum Police Station rushed to help Boon Mee, 52, who was attempting to end his life inside a holding cell after being detained for arson and assaulting an official. The incident occurred within the police station, with officials discovering him in time and coordinating medical transport to Chaiyaphum Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Earlier on the evening of February 12, Boon Mee went into a frenzy, setting fire to two of his own houses in Chee Long Nuea Village, Moo 4, Huay Ton Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chaiyaphum Province. Firefighters from multiple units responded to control the blaze. During the incident, Boon Mee used a hooked knife to attack Sirichai, a firefighter who was injured on his left shoulder and subsequently sent to Chaiyaphum Hospital. The perpetrator was detained and gave a brief explanation, simply stating he was 'feeling hurt'. After being held in the cell to calm down, around 10:00 AM on February 13, Boon Mee harmed himself, which was captured on CCTV. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are awaiting his condition to proceed with legal action.
