Warehouse Dismantled: Fake Parcel Delivery Scam Reveals Nearly 100,000 Returned Packages
On February 5th, Police Major General Vichit Boonchinavuth ordered an investigation into a widespread parcel delivery fraud scheme causing significant public damage. Investigators discovered a distribution warehouse in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan province, containing approximately 100,000 returned packages believed to be tools for fraudulent activities.
Police found packages that were never actually ordered but had cash-on-delivery charges. When officers contacted intended recipients, they confirmed they had not placed any orders. The warehouse staff claimed they were holding packages to re-route them with new delivery labels.
Authorities seized 59 items potentially violating customs regulations, 100 packages that were rejected by recipients, and 100 packages prepared for new delivery, along with 53,889 additional boxes in storage. The investigation aims to identify the masterminds and beneficiaries of this extensive fraud operation.
