WeTV–Tencent Video Launches New Series "Tasteful Thailand" to Elevate Thai Cuisine on Global Stage

WeTV–Tencent Video has joined forces with sanook.com to launch "Tasteful Thailand", a 10-episode documentary series designed to propel Thai food onto the world stage. The official press conference was held on January 29, 2024, at the S31 Hotel in Sukhumvit 31, Bangkok, marking an exciting start to the year's food content landscape. The series is positioned as one of Tencent Video's key cultural content projects, capturing Thai culinary stories through a contemporary perspective. It features an international-standard production led by legendary food documentary producer Chen Xiaoqing, known for the highly-viewed series "Once Upon A Bite". "Tasteful Thailand" will explore the roots and unique characteristics of Thai cuisine through 10 essential ingredients, including sticky rice, lemongrass, coconut sugar, fermented fish, desserts, holy and Thai basil, coconut milk, mackerel, chili, and yen ta fo. The documentary connects local community lifestyles to high-end culinary experiences. The series uniquely presents stories through 10 top-tier Thai chefs recognized internationally with Michelin Stars, Michelin Selected, and Bib Gourmand awards. Beyond cooking techniques, it reveals the backgrounds, memories, and social contexts that shape Thai food's distinctive flavors.
