Lucky Numbers and Mystical Candle Drops: Locals Seek Lottery Luck at Sacred Temple
On February 1st, at Sawang Arom Temple in Nakhon Pathom province, lottery enthusiasts gathered to seek fortune from sacred spiritual figures. Visitors like Ms. Jinda, a 35-year-old trader from Satun, brought offerings including white cloth, glasses, a hat, and energy drinks to "Ta Thong Ngi Rai" (a spiritual figure).
Lottery seekers traditionally look for lucky numbers by observing candle water droplets in a mystical water basin. Ms. Jinda claimed to have seen numbers 407, 43, and 73. She vowed that if she wins, she'll return to donate seven sets of traditional Thai silk clothing.
The temple's abbot, Luang Por Pae, also invited followers to participate in a major merit-making event, covering 9 temples across 99 locations for underprivileged provinces from February 12 to March 8. The temple also features a 5-rai sunflower field, a Golden Gate bridge, and a Japanese-style sakura arch, offering visitors both spiritual merit and a scenic experience.
