Governor Traiparb Pushes Tourism to Boost Rayong's Livability and Local Income
Rayong Province Governor Traiparb Wongtrairat disclosed that Rayong is an Eastern coastal province with significant tourism potential, offering diverse attractions like marine locations, beaches, island groups, cultural sites, historical communities, and agricultural tourism destinations. Tourists can easily access the province through multiple transportation modes, being only 179 kilometers from Bangkok. With these capabilities, it is crucial to develop sustainable tourism potential aligned with current technological, social, and environmental trends. According to Tourism Authority of Thailand data for January-October 2024, Rayong received 5,295,912 total visitors, including 4,519,371 Thai and 776,541 international tourists from Russia, Malaysia, America, Ukraine, and China, generating 25,035 million baht in revenue. The province aims to make tourism and service income one of seven key policy development strategies to create a more livable Rayong. Four key approaches include organizing year-round events, developing diverse tourist attractions, accelerating MICE City status, and promoting community and private sector participation in tourism revenue generation.
