Timeline of the 'Straw Hat Thief': Gold Robbery of 198 Grams Exposed

Police have successfully tracked down a notorious gold shop robber known as the 'Straw Hat Thief' who stole gold worth approximately 198 grams and 170,000 baht, with total damages exceeding 10 million baht from a shopping mall in the Sukhumvit area on January 30th. The suspect, identified as Chalo (aka Thew), 29, used cunning escape tactics, avoiding CCTV cameras and disposing of his motorcycle in a canal. After the robbery, he traveled through Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, attempting to sell the stolen gold to a friend in Myanmar. Police ultimately apprehended him at the Mae Sruai Dam in Chiang Rai province, where he was charged with aggravated theft. Chalo has a long criminal history dating back to his youth, with multiple theft and drug-related offenses, and had just been released from prison.
