Ladkrabang Police Disguised as Electricians Bust Teenage Motorcycle Theft Gang
On February 17th, high-ranking police officials ordered a special investigation team to track down a motorcycle theft gang. They identified a 19-year-old suspect named 'Jo' or 'Aom' from Bangkok, who was wanted on a criminal warrant for multiple motorcycle thefts. The investigation team used an innovative strategy, with officers disguising themselves as electrical workers to infiltrate the suspect's neighborhood. They carefully tracked the suspect's movements and intercepted him in the Dharmanukul community. Upon arrest, the suspect confessed to stealing motorcycles from multiple police districts in Bangkok, including Ladkrabang, Kokkhram, Bangchan, and Prawet. The gang would target poorly secured motorcycles, steal them by bypassing locks, and then sell them to cross-border agents for 17,000-25,000 baht per motorcycle. Recovered evidence included multiple stolen motorcycles and the suspect's clothing used during the thefts. The suspect admitted to committing these crimes to earn money for his wedding.
