Sino-Thai Explains Massive Dome Collapse Due to Powerful Tornado, Confirms Care for 4 Injured
On February 10, 2024, Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction explained the incident of a large dome collapse at the Metropolitan Electricity Authority's New City Training Center in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan Province. Jarurat Jiraratsathit, Managing Director, revealed that the collapse was caused by an unprecedented strong tornado that hit the area. The incident involved the steel roof structure of an air training field, part of a 7-building project valued at 1.185 billion baht. Four people were injured and immediately taken to the hospital. Two injured individuals have already been discharged, and the other two are expected to be released soon. Relevant authorities, including the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, police, and local officials, have thoroughly investigated the site. The damaged building was a single-story, 25x53 meter steel structure completed in November. The company confirmed that construction followed strict engineering standards and has insurance coverage for the 15-million-baht structure. Sino-Thai pledged full cooperation in investigating the cause and will rebuild the damaged building within the contract timeline.
