250 Years: Dragon's Way Along Songkhla Lake
Laemson is an important historical era of Songkhla city. After the Sultan of Singora was suppressed by the Ayutthaya Kingdom in 1680, people dispersed and settled in the Laemson area, located oppositeHua Kho Daeng. This city served as an important trading port and was home to a Chinese community, particularly Hokkien residents. Laemson can be described as a city that seamlessly blended Thai and Chinese cultures.
The book "250 Years: Dragon's Way Along Songkhla Lake" is part of a project studying the history and culture of Songkhla Laemson between 1680-1842. It was supported by the Songkhla World Heritage Foundation and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited. The purpose is to research, collect, and disseminate knowledge about the historical and cultural relationships between Thailand and China over several centuries, with Laemson playing a crucial role in connecting the two countries.
