Aggressive Group Impersonating Election Commission Cuts Off Car, Demands Midnight Vehicle Search
On February 6th, Thanakorn Liangruethai, 54, a former deputy mayor of Ban Pong, Ratchaburi, was confronted by a group of men in two vehicles who cut off his car at a red light intersection. One of the men wore a government vest and claimed to be an Election Commission official, showing an alleged appointment document from the district chief. Due to darkness, the details were unclear. Thanakorn requested police presence during the search, and after local police arrived, they conducted a search that found no illegal items. When police were asked to verify the men's identification, the group quickly fled, raising suspicions about their true identity. Thanakorn has since filed a police report and submitted a letter to the Ratchaburi Election Commission to investigate whether these individuals were legitimate officials.
