Young Man Arrested for Fake Animal Feed Machine Scam Using Fake Bank Accounts
On February 12, police commanders Tassanee Jaruprat and Winyu Jamsai, along with detective Wachirachet Akkarateeraphong, arrested 21-year-old Weerachai (surname withheld) based on an arrest warrant from Lamphun Provincial Court. The suspect was caught in Bangkok's Yan Nawa district on charges of computer fraud and online deception. In May 2023, victims discovered a Facebook page selling agricultural machinery that appeared to be conducting online auctions. Victims were tricked into transferring money for supposedly winning auctions, with scammers demanding additional 'insurance' fees. When victims became suspicious, the page disappeared. Investigation revealed the suspect's bank account was used in multiple fraud cases. The suspect claimed a friend named 'Pluem' borrowed his bank account, saying his own account was frozen. Authorities found the account was involved in 12 different fraud cases across multiple locations and will proceed with legal action.
