Move Forward Party Prepares to Sue Election Commission Using 'Barcode' Evidence Under Article 157
On February 19, 2024, Prit Watchrasingha, spokesperson for the Move Forward Party, announced the party's intention to file a lawsuit against the Election Commission under Criminal Code Article 157. Dr. Wayo Asavaruengrong, the party's legal representative, is currently drafting the complaint, expected to be officially filed next week.
Prit emphasized that the primary evidence involves the election ballot barcodes, which he argues compromise the secrecy of voting. The party's goal is not to contest their electoral defeat, but to protect voters' rights and ensure legal accountability.
The party maintains that a truly secret ballot cannot be traced back under any circumstances, and the presence of barcodes that can identify individual votes fundamentally undermines the election's integrity. They are challenging the Election Commission's definition of a 'secret' ballot and calling for a transparent investigation.
