Scammer Arrested for Fake Brand Name Sales Mission, Defrauding Victims of Nearly Half a Million Baht

The Technology Crime Suppression Division arrested Ms. Praphaporn, 43, on a court warrant for supporting fraud and computer-related crimes. In June 2022, the scammer group posted luxury brand items on Instagram, inviting people to join a Line group called 'baa.brandname' with over 1,000 members. The admin, using the name 'admin.jane', contacted victims and convinced them to complete supposed brand promotion missions. Victims were told they must complete 40 missions before withdrawing money, and when trying to stop, were further pressured with additional fees. Ms. Praphaporn received transfers totaling 457,600 baht across 15 transactions. She was captured while leaving Bangkok and admitted to opening the fraudulent bank accounts. She will be prosecuted by local law enforcement.
