Angry Over Warnings, Younger Brother Shoots Older Brother Dead While Preparing for Chinese New Year

A deadly family conflict erupted when a younger brother shot his older sibling dead at their home in Phetchaburi province on February 15, 2024. The incident occurred while the family was preparing for the Chinese New Year celebrations, with the shooter, Anurat, allegedly angry about being reprimanded for verbally abusing their parents. Police responded to the scene at 7:20 PM in Nayang Subdistrict, Cha-am District, where they found a 42-year-old man dead with gunshot wounds. A 39-year-old bystander who tried to intervene was also wounded in the left arm. The shooter, Anurat, fled the scene and has a previous history of violent confrontations with a suspended jail sentence. The victim's older sister revealed that Anurat had a history of verbally abusing their parents, while the deceased brother had always tried to protect them.
