Cavalry troops from Thap Chao Tak Special Forces exchanged gunfire with a drug smuggling caravan near Doi Pha Mee, ultimately seizing over 312 kg of crystal methamphetamine left behind by criminals. The operation occurred on February 4, 2569, involving military and police officials who responded to intelligence about drug trafficking attempts from neighboring countries into Thailand. After a brief 5-minute shootout near Ban Pha Mee in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, the smugglers fled, leaving behind 13 modified sacks containing approximately 24 kg of methamphetamine each. Maj. Gen. Sathit Waiyanont ordered continued vigilance and interdiction efforts, with all seized evidence to be handed over to local law enforcement for further legal proceedings.
