Islamic Militants Kill at Least 162 People in Attacks on Two Nigerian Villages
Armed extremists killed at least 162 people during attacks on two villages in western Nigeria on Tuesday evening, according to a local lawmaker. The attacks targeted the villages of Woro and Nuku in Kwara state, and were reportedly carried out by the Lakurawa, an armed group affiliated with the Islamic State group. Local television footage showed bodies lying in blood, burning houses, and Amnesty International estimated the death toll could be over 170 people.
