Election Commission Threatens to Sue Chollarat for QR Code Complaint
Chollarat Koykul, a Bangkok parliamentary candidate from the People's Party, is facing potential legal action from the Election Commission (EC) after she posted on social media about errors in the early voting process. During a site visit to Rachasit Technical College, a central polling location, Chollarat's team discovered significant issues. The candidate board with MP candidate lists was placed inside the voting area, making it visible only to those already inside. More critically, when scanning the QR Code on the external publicity board labeled "Bangkok Election Candidate List (33 Districts)", the displayed information showed candidate details from the 2023 election, including an image and name of Rakchanok Sri-nok, a former Progressive Move Party candidate. Chollarat publicly stated, "How could they make such a mistake? The QR Code is from the Election Commission's central office. Essentially, all Bangkok district QR Codes are incorrect." The Election Commission subsequently contacted her team, warning they would send investigators to verify the claims. The EC representative threatened to pursue legal action if the claims were found to be false, stating they would "file a lawsuit to the fullest extent" if the allegations damage the office's reputation.
