Tiger Shrine Spirit Possession Ceremony Attracts Crowds During Chinese New Year, Believers Seek Lucky Numbers
On February 12th, at the Tiger Shrine in Nong A Sia, Nakhon Pathom, Chinese and Thai-Chinese devotees participated in a traditional spirit possession ceremony. The event, led by caretaker Pornthep Saengkham, allowed faithful followers to seek blessings, ward off bad luck, and request prosperity during the Chinese New Year festival. During the ritual, the spirit medium entered a trance state, using a ritual knife to draw blood and write mystical numbers believed to be lucky lottery digits. Participants were particularly excited when numbers 843, 523, and 27 appeared during the ceremony. The shrine will remain open for one month, allowing people to perform rituals to resolve bad luck, especially for those born in the years of the Rat, Horse, Rabbit, and Rooster.
