End of an Era: Legendary Phetchaburi Department Store to Close After 33 Years

The Sahathai Department Store in Phetchaburi will officially close on May 10, 2026, after nearly 33 years of service since November 1993. The primary reasons for closure include the expiration of the lease with the Phetchaburi Municipal Authority and the absence of a business successor. The store will continue normal operations until May 9, 2026, offering clearance sales, special promotions, and numerous gifts starting from February 25, 2026. Considered the first department store in Phetchaburi Province, located on the municipal market road in Tha Rap Subdistrict, Mueang Phetchaburi District, the store has been a truly local and Thai-owned establishment that has maintained strong community connections. The Sahathai group will continue to operate stores in Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat provinces.
