Thailand Ranks Third in Reddit Taxi Scam Complaints, UK Insurer Reveals

BANGKOK — AllClear, a UK insurance company, has released research demonstrating that taxi scams can happen anywhere and anytime, especially when travelers appear unfamiliar with local fare rates. The study analyzed over 450 Reddit posts and 30,000 comments about taxi scams, revealing Turkey leads with 4,224 comments, followed by India with 2,301 comments. Thailand ranks third with 2,169 comments, with other countries like Vietnam, Egypt, and Australia also appearing in the top 10. The insurer advised travelers to check local taxi rates before boarding and report any suspected scams to local authorities.
