Sacred Spiritual World 6 - Luang Por Phet of Sai Yok Temple, Legendary Monk of Mae Klong River

Tuesday, February 10, 2026 marks the 96th memorial anniversary of Luang Por Phet Panyavachiro, a legendary monk from the Mae Klong River region. Born on a Sunday in 1852 in Ban Wat Klang, Ratchaburi province, he was ordained at age 13 at Wat Klang Tai in Samut Songkhram province. He studied Buddhist scriptures with various senior monks and became the abbot of Wat Sam Chine (Tri Chinda Wattanaram Temple) in 1892, becoming renowned for his teaching of Buddhist meditation and scriptures. The temple, originally founded by three Chinese brothers, has a rich history of community service and religious dedication.
