Rights Department Declares Teacher's Punishment of 800 Sit-Ups Violates Torture Prevention Law
The Rights Protection Department has highlighted that a teacher who forced a 13-year-old 7th-grade student to do 800 sit-ups as punishment may have violated the Torture Prevention Act. The incident occurred after the student failed 5 midterm exams and did not complete assigned work. The punishment was conducted in front of other students, causing the student leg pain severe enough that doctors recommended no walking for 3 days and ordered blood tests. The deputy director of the Rights and Liberties Department stated that the teacher's actions potentially constitute human dignity violation, as the punishment was excessive and humiliating. The local education office has already transferred the teacher and established an investigation committee within 7 days.
