'Ice-Name' Excluded from Social Security Reform Committee, Meeting Confirms No Proposal Made
On February 20, 2024, at the Ministry of Labor, Police Colonel Wannapong Kotcharak, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, chaired the second meeting of the Social Security Office Reform Structure Study Working Group, following the first meeting on February 6. The meeting involved Mr. Sastharam Thammabusadee, representative of the insured, participating online. Police Colonel Wannapong explained that they had previously established three reform framework areas: bureaucratic delays, transparency, and participation. The current meeting focused on drafting Terms of Reference (TOR) for interested agencies or institutions to submit proposals through government procurement systems. The main objectives include determining the Social Security Office's optimal organizational structure, reviewing current and potential organizational components, examining management approaches, and comparing international social security models from countries like Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Sweden, and Canada. The working group expects to complete no more than two more meetings and potentially develop or pass reform-related legislation within one year. While specific details are still being finalized, they emphasize a collaborative and transparent approach to the reform process.
