Deputy PM Praises Wildlife Organization for Successful White-Winged Duck Breeding
On February 22, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Suchart Chmlhin praised the Thailand Wildlife Organization for successfully breeding the White-Winged Duck, marking a significant breakthrough in conserving rare wildlife.
The breeding pair 'Pok' and 'Ming' from Huay Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary successfully laid eggs twice this season. The first egg was carefully monitored at Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo by veterinarians and experts with previous experience in White-Winged Duck egg hatching.
On February 18, signs of life appeared in the 55-day-old egg, with movement and shell cracking. By the evening of February 20, a healthy chick had fully hatched, becoming the first new member of this breeding season.
Suchart emphasized that this achievement is not just a departmental pride, but a crucial milestone in restoring White-Winged Duck populations in Thailand. The government will continue supporting wildlife conservation efforts to ensure sustainable natural resource management.
