Former Bank Employee Driving Fortuner Crashes While Traveling with Family, 4 Dead
A former bank employee driving a Fortuner lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an electrical pole, killing 4 people, including one 2-year-old child. At 10:30 AM on February 20th, police were notified of a multi-fatality vehicle accident on Phet Kasem Road in Bang Saphan District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The vehicle was a bronze Toyota Fortuner with Bangkok license plates, which was completely destroyed upon impact. The victims were identified as Witaya, 67, a former Government Savings Bank employee who died in the driver's seat; his wife Pornpan, 66; Nikom, 70; and a 2-year-old child named Thanyawin. The family was traveling from Chawang District in Nakhon Si Thammarat to Bangkok to visit their child when the accident occurred. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver may have fallen asleep or been cut off by another vehicle, causing the car to violently crash into a roadside electrical pole. Police will continue to investigate the exact cause of the accident and coordinate with the victims' relatives for funeral arrangements.
