Two Foreign Tourists Caught Engaging in Inappropriate Behavior on Tuk-Tuk in Phuket
On January 31st, two foreign tourists were caught and fined for inappropriate behavior on a tuk-tuk while crossing Patong in Phuket. The incident drew heavy criticism online and raised concerns about the province's image.
Police from the Karon Police Station and Tourism Police tracked down the tourists, who were found staying at a local school. The two individuals were identified as Valentine Celine Guichard, a 24-year-old French woman, and Wesley Franck Crouzier, a 28-year-old French man.
Both suspects admitted to having sexual emotions and inappropriately undressing during the tuk-tuk ride, though they denied having sexual intercourse. The investigating officers charged them with "shameful conduct in public" and issued a 5,000 baht fine to each individual.
