Lamphun Provincial Administrative Organization Deploys Thermal Drones to Detect Forest Fires
On February 13, 2024, Veeradej Phupisit, the Lamphun Provincial Administrative Organization president, assigned Deputy President Pairach Yasanga and a team of disaster prevention officials to conduct an urgent field operation. Using thermal drones, they detected smoke and heat signatures in a long stretch near Ban Thung Yao in Sri Bua Ban Subdistrict, Mueang Lamphun District. The area consists of mountain terrain with mixed deciduous and dry dipterocarp forests, with fire spreading along the mountain slopes. The disaster prevention team flew thermal drones at high altitude to assess the situation and quickly coordinated with community leaders to extinguish the fire. The fire was successfully contained. The organization is requesting public cooperation to stop all open burning and immediately report any smoke or fire signs to local authorities.
