Closed Van Crashes into Fuel Truck, Driver Dies at Scene, Passenger Critically Injured
On February 11, 2026, police at Nong Bun Mak Police Station in Nakhon Ratchasima were notified of a serious collision at the traffic light intersection in Nong Tagai, between a closed white Toyota van and a fuel truck. The accident occurred on Highway 24's leftmost lane, near the border of Nong Bun Mak district in Nakhon Ratchasima and Nong Ki district in Buriram. The driver, Thanongsak Promkul, 28, was killed at the scene, while passenger Bai Ngern Boonmak, 29, was critically injured. Rescue teams spent over 30 minutes extracting the victims from the severely damaged vehicle. Preliminary investigations suggest the fuel truck was stopped at a red light when the van crashed into its rear, possibly due to poor night visibility and unlit street lamps. Authorities will review CCTV footage from both vehicles and the surrounding area to determine the precise circumstances of the accident.
