Ex-Soldier Breaks Checkpoint, Smuggling Over 60 Kilograms of Crystal Meth in Sedan
On February 14, 2024, police led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Pornsak Laorujiralai set up a drug checkpoint on Highway 11 in Phitsanulok province. They spotted a Toyota Altis with a Yasothon license plate and attempted to stop the vehicle. The 29-year-old driver, identified as Kittinant (last name withheld), tried to flee but was eventually intercepted. During the search, officers found two yellow sacks containing crystal meth, totaling over 60 kilograms. They also discovered a military uniform in the car, which the driver apparently used to avoid suspicion at checkpoints. Kittinant confessed to being hired to transport the drugs from Chiang Rai to Bangkok. He was charged with drug trafficking, possession of Class 1 narcotics, and resisting police orders. Background checks revealed he had previously been involved in a fatal drunk driving incident in Lopburi where he struck and killed a 51-year-old woman before being caught.
