Political Photographers Association Holds 16th Scholarship Ceremony for Members' Children
The Political Photographers Association held its 16th warm scholarship ceremony for members' children. Dr. Wichai Piyawannawong, an expert advisor to the Senate Law and Justice Committee, presided over the event, accompanied by important figures from various fields who witnessed and supported the activity.
Chaiyot Sirisawat, the association's president, revealed that the club brings together over 200 political photojournalists from print and online media. Their main mission is to create unity and take care of professional colleagues' welfare.
Beyond educational scholarships, the association maintains funds to help members injured on duty, support those laid off, care for veteran photographers, and conduct CSR activities for youth in remote areas. In the past year, they allocated funds in three main areas:
- 80 children's scholarships (3,000 baht each)
- 5 veteran photographer support funds (10,000 baht each)
- Illness support funds (5,000 baht each)
Additionally, the association collaborated with the Parliament's volunteer network to purchase a 21,000 baht electric wheelchair and provide a 10,000 baht living support fund for Kitti Worachannchai, a former Thai Post photographer.
The event received support from numerous generous donors, reflecting the excellent cooperation between media organizations and various social sectors. As stated by the organizers, "This scholarship is not just a financial figure, but moral support transmitted to media families, empowering them to continue reflecting truth to society."
