Couple Dies After Truck Hits Power Pole in Rain

A pickup truck struck a power pole on a rain-slicked curve in Phatthalung Province on July 1, killing a 63-year-old driver trapped in the crushed cabin and his 59-year-old wife who was ejected from the vehicle.

7h ago Khaosod

At 10:26 a.m. on July 1, 2026, investigator Phunonth Rueang Ying from Khao Chai Sohn Police Station, along with rescue personnel, responded to a pickup truck that had overturned on the Asia Highway northbound near Ban Koh Thong Som, Moo 12, Khao Chai Sohn Subdistrict, Khao Chai Sohn District, Phatthalung Province.

The accident occurred on a curved section of the highway during rainfall, which had made the road surface slippery. Officers found a Toyota Tiger pickup lying on its side with the front severely crushed after striking a power pole with such force that the cabin collapsed. Inside the vehicle, rescuers found the body of Prasop Chok, 63, trapped in the crushed cabin. Rescue personnel used cutting equipment to extract the body before confirming death at the scene. The passenger, Ms. Chom, 59, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the roadside.

Initial investigation suggests the vehicle lost control while navigating the curve during heavy rain and wet road conditions, then struck the power pole forcefully. This caused the cabin to collapse, trapping the driver inside while ejecting the passenger. Both occupants died at the scene. Document checks revealed both victims were from the same address in Trang Province and are believed to have been husband and wife returning from an errand when the accident occurred.

Property damage was assessed as intact. Authorities are now contacting relatives to claim the bodies and continuing their investigation into the actual cause of the accident for legal proceedings.

Police Bust Bank Account Scam Ring Selling to Overseas Fraudsters

Police arrested three people operating a bank account trading ring that supplied stolen accounts to overseas scammer networks, recovering multiple phones, SIM cards, and ATM cards during a July 1 Bangkok raid.

7h ago Khaosod

Police have dismantled a major bank account trading operation that supplied stolen accounts to scammer syndicates operating abroad. On July 1, 2025, officers acting on intelligence conducted a raid at a hotel in Bangkok's Thonburi district, arresting Somjai, the alleged account broker; Winai, who sold his own accounts; and Prakatsdit, Somjai's boyfriend, who was found with crystal methamphetamine and methamphetamine pills. Police recovered five smartphones with active banking applications, three phone SIM cards, one bank passbook, 16 ATM cards, nine national ID cards of other individuals, 0.75 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and two methamphetamine pills. Investigation revealed that Somjai operated as a middleman acquiring bank accounts and phones with app-activated accounts from sellers like Winai, then reselling them to overseas scammer networks for a profit of 2,000-3,000 baht per account over more than a year. Both Somjai and Winai have confessed to their roles. They face charges including facilitating the sale of bank accounts, unauthorized use of others' electronic cards, fraud by impersonation, inserting false computer data with intent to cause harm, and opening bank accounts knowing they would be used for technology-related crimes. Prakatsdit is being prosecuted separately for drug possession.

MP Challenges Independent Agencies' Budget Spending

A Pheu Thai MP challenged independent agencies' spending efficiency and transparency during parliamentary budget debate, questioning whether the Election Commission and anti-corruption bodies deserve public trust amid concerns over electora

7h ago Khaosod

During a July 1, 2025 parliamentary session chaired by Deputy Speaker Loetsak Pattanachaikul, the House of Representatives considered the fiscal year 2570 budget bill worth 3.788 trillion baht, proposed by the Cabinet on July 3.

Panida Mongkolswat, a Samut Prakan MP from the Pheu Thai Party, debated the budgets of three independent agencies: the Election Commission (EC), the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), and the State Audit Office (SAO). These agencies collectively received over 10.195 billion baht to maintain political integrity. However, she argued that over the years, these budgets have not been spent efficiently on core missions, and these agencies face questions about transparency and low public confidence, yet no oversight mechanism exists to balance their power.

During her speech, Panida displayed images of ballots used in Senate selection, pointing out irregularities: the ballots were pre-printed with numbered tables and the voting results matched perfectly—odds comparable to winning the lottery jackpot 70 consecutive times. She questioned how the public could trust the EC's electoral transparency given this evidence.

Panida further stated that given the controversial origins of the current Senate, and that the Senate must approve appointees to independent agencies, how can citizens trust their neutrality and independence?

Sanong Thepaksornrang, a Buri Ram MP from the Palang Pracharath Party, objected, arguing her remarks fell outside the budget bill's scope and that Senate selection matters were already under legal process.

Panida then criticized the NACC, alleging it protects corruption by failing to investigate former Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob regarding asset disclosure, despite a Constitutional Court ruling on his stock-hiding case.

Sanong protested again, citing off-topic discussion and explicit mention of an outsider. Chair Loetsak warned Panida about external references and urged her to stay on point.

Panida continued, noting the NACC typically conducts thorough investigations but had not done preliminary checks or questioned involved parties in this case, despite public attention. She presented a blurred image of Saksayam.

When Sanong objected to external images in her presentation, Chair Loetsak ruled against displaying outside individuals. Ekkarat Udoamnauy, a Bangkok MP from Pheu Thai, protested the chair's impartiality, noting the image was blurred and unidentifiable. He requested the chair and objector allow the discussion to proceed. Loetsak clarified that unblurred external images are prohibited, but blurred ones that cannot be identified are permitted, though he preferred avoiding them.

Local Exam Fraud Investigation Results Due Tomorrow

A fact-finding committee investigating local government exam fraud will release its findings tomorrow, with results to be publicly disclosed following reviews by police and anti-corruption authorities in Thailand's Interior Ministry.

7h ago Khaosod

On July 1, 2569, Arthit Samphantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry, gave an interview at the ministry headquarters regarding progress in the local government exam fraud investigation. Deputy Permanent Secretary Santhithorn Yimlamnai, overseeing community development and local administration promotion, reported that the fact-finding committee has completed its seven-day review and will finalize conclusions today before reporting tomorrow (July 2).

Following the report, results will be disclosed to the public. The Interior Ministry's investigation will identify any ministerial shortcomings requiring further action. Separately, police are conducting a parallel criminal investigation, while the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is developing a timeline with a 3-6 month review period. The two agencies must coordinate to ensure unified information before the Interior Ministry identifies specific failures and those involved.

When asked which government officials are implicated, Arthit said details must come from the deputy permanent secretary heading the investigation. He confirmed that once completed, results will be publicly announced with no concealment.

Regarding the audio clip allegedly involving the Permanent Secretary's wife in the fraud scheme, Arthit stated that law must be enforced in all cases and that those presenting false information will face consequences, though he denies personal involvement.

On reports of an individual named Jit filing charges at Thung Song Hom Police Station, Arthit said he was unaware. Regarding Jit's complaint against someone named Som, Arthit welcomed the revelation and emphasized the need to identify the mastermind behind the scheme. He reiterated having no acquaintance with anyone named Jit, described as being involved in local political circles.

A 34-year-old man was arrested after traffic police discovered methamphetamine and an illegal shotgun in his vehicle during a search at a local police station in Ko Lanta on July 1.

7h ago Khaosod

On July 1, 2569, Maj. Chaikrit Potho, commander of Patrol Unit 6, along with Deputy Commander Pol. Col. Narish Prathana Phor, Station Chief Pol. Col. The operation began on June 29 when traffic police conducted enforcement in their jurisdiction. On Charoen Krung Road, officers immobilized a white Isuzu vehicle and issued a traffic citation. Actor Em Embraces Challenge of Large-Scale Theater Production

Actor Em Bhumipattra Thavasinsiri takes on his first major theater production at Bangkok's 1,500-seat Rachadalai Theatre, challenging himself to reach audiences far from the stage while starring alongside accomplished actress Perth Veeranit

7h ago Khaosod

Rising actor Em Bhumipattra Thavasinsiri is tackling his biggest challenge yet with the large-scale stage production "Once Again...The More It Hurts, The More I Remember, The More I Love." Performing at the 1,500-seat Rachadalai Theatre, Em acknowledges both his excitement and anxiety about reaching audiences seated far from the stage, marking his first major theater production.

In an interview, Em explained the scale of the challenge. "This is my first large-scale theater production. The Rachadalai Theatre seats 1,500 people, which is difficult. It's a completely different format from the smaller 200-seat venues I've worked in before. The acting techniques, directing, and stage presence all differ significantly. That's why I said yes to this project—I wanted to discover how to perform at this scale so that even people in the back row feel what the character feels."

Em will star alongside Perth Veeranithat Siraphan, an actress he admires despite never having worked with her before. "I've seen Perth's performances and watched her in the film 'Mae Soo.' I think she's an incredibly skilled actress who completely transforms into her characters, completely different from who she is in real life. She's a new generation actress who I can confidently say is very talented and deeply understands acting."

When asked about finding chemistry with Perth, Em noted their different acting approaches. "Perth has much more experience than me, especially in series and television work. She has the technique to enter and exit scenes sharply. When a character needs an emotion, she can be that immediately. I'm more like a diesel engine—I start slowly. Perth is like an electric EV car; she hits 200 and she's at 200."

Em's character is 25 years old—significantly different from the actor himself. "The character is very young and vibrant, with qualities I don't have. I'm an old, silly, overweight cat that doesn't want to play anymore. But this character is like a young, energetic Beagle puppy. We're completely different, but I have to try to become that."

When asked about the expectations that come with his reputation as a quality actor, Em was candid about the pressure. "People set their guard up. If I'm cast in a role, they expect a villain reveal later, which I've stopped doing. It spoils the surprise. There's a branding aspect to my reputation, but the downside is that people guard their expectations. It's like telling a joke—people wait for the punchline. Managing expectations is crucial to artistic impact, but setting expectations is also unavoidable for marketing.

"I'm happy when people say they watch Thai films because of me, but it also pressures me. Every time I perform, I still don't feel safe. Before every action scene, before rehearsal, I'm still nervous. The excitement never goes away—only the audience's expectations grow as I get older."

On whether he sees himself as having a full glass, Em reflected philosophically. "I think everyone's glass is both full and empty. Every time we think it's full, it becomes empty. We must constantly refill, check, and explore ourselves. I'm not someone who constantly self-examines—I wait for others to tell me. But self-awareness is most important. I try to understand what I'm feeling and what I'm thinking."

Company Teaches Students Waste Sorting, Environmental Care

WeLoveGolf and corporate partners delivered educational supplies and waste-sorting training to Ban Kluay School in Suphan Buri, aiming to build environmental awareness and improve quality of life for remote area students.

To promote educational opportunities, improve youth quality of life in remote areas, and foster environmental conservation awareness, WeLoveGolf Co., Ltd., partnering with TG Cellular World Co., Ltd. and private sector allies, organized the "WELOVEGOLF Goodwill Caravan Helping the World" activity at Ban Kluay School in Dan Chang District, Suphan Buri Province. The opening ceremony was presided over by Plan Suksawaeng, Dan Chang District Chief, with executives, private sector representatives, teachers, and students in attendance.

Beyond delivering essential supplies, the event focused on building environmental knowledge, particularly waste sorting and natural resource management, to instill responsible resource use and positive behavior in youth. The program delivered educational equipment, sports gear, and essentials valued at over 200,000 baht, along with educational activities on waste classification and environmental conservation to raise awareness and build good habits among children and youth.

Sakkdanong Lumphanichy, Director of Ban Kluay School, stated that the activity provided an excellent opportunity to promote and support knowledge about waste sorting and environmental awareness for children. The initiative also provided cleaning equipment, environmental improvements, painting, and facility decoration to address the school's resource gaps.

Dr. Wiroj Sirisattanarak, Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Web Service Public Co., Ltd. and WeLoveGolf Co., Ltd., noted that before this activity, WELOVEGOLF, TG, and Huawei held the WELOVEGOLF Tournament Nightzy Ex.2026 golf competition to fundraise, with proceeds supporting youth and community initiatives.

"This school is located in a remote area near forest and natural resource zones, so children should receive environmental knowledge and awareness to develop responsibility toward natural resources and their surroundings. We support educational equipment, sports gear, and essentials to create opportunities and bring smiles to remote area children, fostering environmental consciousness and sustainable community change," Dr. Wiroj said.

Setsanphong Phuangsi, Corporate Communications Manager at TG Cellular World Co., Ltd., added: "The future world is entering an era of AI and full-scale technology. Today's children may grow up to become inventors or developers of new technologies that solve environmental problems, such as smart waste sorting systems or new waste management technologies."

Thailand Launches Tourism Stimulus Drive For Second Half 2025

Thailand's tourism minister has established a task force to roll out stimulus measures for the second half of 2025, expanding support beyond meals and accommodation to include transportation costs across the industry supply chain. The minis

7h ago Khaosod

Tourism Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul has signed an order establishing a task force to advance government tourism policy and accelerate economic and tourism stimulus measures for the second half of 2025. The task force will coordinate with the Public-Private Joint Committee for Economic Solutions, chaired by the Prime Minister, and welcomes active private sector participation in developing guidelines and measures.

The task force will gather data and proposals from businesses to present to the Tourism and SME Sub-Committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Supachai Suthammaphand. Representatives from major tourism industry associations—including the Domestic Tourism Business Association, Thai Tour Operator Association, Thai Tourism Business Association (ATTA), Thai Tourism Industry Association, Thai Tour Guide Association, Hotel Association, and Transportation Operator Association—will be invited to provide input ensuring measures address all stakeholders.

Minister Surasak emphasized that stimulus measures will not be limited to meal and accommodation support alone. They will also cover transportation costs, such as assistance for bus operators and tour coaches, to distribute revenue more widely across the tourism supply chain. The approach will consider the number of benefits, benefit value proportions, promotion of both major and secondary cities, and appropriate incentives for both weekdays and weekends to maximize public accessibility.

The task force will meet with relevant agencies and the private sector within the coming week to finalize all measure details before submitting to the government's Tourism Sub-Committee for consideration. The ministry will prioritize input from all business sectors.

Regarding implementation, the Tourism Ministry has decided not to develop a new application for registration and benefits. Instead, it will use existing platforms that the public already knows, reducing confusion and improving accessibility. The "Pao Tang" mobile application system may be adapted for benefit distribution.

On the same day, Minister Surasak announced enforcement measures to strengthen tourism confidence and law enforcement. The ministry is preparing to establish a task force to combat illegal businesses and nominalism in tourism through tourism police and related agencies. "Rapid-response teams" will conduct ongoing operations at major tourist destinations nationwide to eliminate nominal businesses, influential figures, and illegal activities damaging Thailand's tourism image.

The ministry has directed tourism police to intensify scrutiny of foreign tourists committing offenses, overstaying visas, or using Thailand as a base for illegal activities. Airport security and passenger screening remain under the jurisdiction of relevant agencies, with the government directing enhanced coordination.

8h ago Khaosod

Tee Nattee Tienpairojn may be recognized by many as "DJ Ton Hom's younger brother," but in the permanent makeup world, he is "Grand Master T" from CT Studio—a Thai artist who has won top lip tattooing championships in Thailand, South Korea, and Indonesia.

Transitioning from on-camera work in media and advertising to the PMU field, which demands both scientific knowledge and artistic precision, Grand Master T's reputation has grown on the international stage. Most recently, he was selected as the sole Thai artist to showcase his self-developed 9D lip tattooing technique at Vietnam's largest eyebrow and lip tattooing competition, which hosted over 2,000 competitors from around the globe.

At the same event, "Jade Master" from CT Studio also successfully brought home the first runner-up award in the hair stroke eyebrow category. This demonstrates that Thai PMU artists—whether specializing in lip tattooing, color lip enhancement, or hair stroke eyebrows—can stand shoulder to shoulder with international experts.

Currently, CT Studio continues to refine eyebrow and lip tattooing with an emphasis on detail, natural appearance, and personalized design. The studio's co-founder, Grand Master Claudia, who developed the 9D hair stroke eyebrow technique, has helped establish design standards that complement facial structure and deliver naturally beautiful results.

Once known primarily as a celebrity's younger sibling, Grand Master T is now building his own reputation as a Thai artist bringing Thai PMU expertise to the world stage. CT Studio, meanwhile, is gaining recognition as a dedicated Thai team pushing the boundaries of Thai eyebrow and lip tattooing further than many expected.
