Port Authority FC continues its squad reinforcement efforts, announcing the return of right-back Nitipong Selanon to the team for the 2026/27 season, competing in both domestic and international tournaments. On May 19, Prasit Wattharasindhul, a party-list MP from the People's Party and coordinator of the opposition coalition, stated that both opposition and government sides plan to submit an urgent motion regarding the train-bus collision on Asoke-Din Daeng Road during parliament's May 20 session. He criticized Deputy PM and Transport Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn's proposal to prohibit trains from entering the city center, calling it "shallow thinking" that unfairly shifts the burden onto train commuters. Prasit proposed three alternative solutions: 1) Strictly enforce traffic laws (noting that currently only 10% of traffic violations caught on camera result in citations), 2) Redesign road usage patterns to accommodate safer traffic flow, and 3) Accelerate the Missing Link railway project to reduce intersection points between trains and vehicles. "If we follow Pipat's approach and just ban trains whenever an incident occurs, that's overly simplistic and places too much burden on the public," Prasit said.

CHONBURI — 19 May 2026, Police detained a group of Myanmar teenagers accused of attacking a 16-year-old Thai boy in a street assault. The suspects, however, gave their account of events, claiming they had earlier been held at gunpoint and robbed of a pair of Converse sneakers by the victim's group. They are now asking police to review CCTV footage.

Following viral social media posts by the victim's sibling, a Facebook user claimed his younger brother was attacked by nearly 10 youths believed to be Myanmar nationals. The group allegedly beat the teenager, stole his shoes, damaged his motorcycle and spat on him. The incident occurred on Sukhumvit Road in front of Wat Chong Lom, inbound to Chonburi, in Moo 2 of Na Kluea subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province.

On Tuesday, Pol. Col. Sarawut Nuchanart, superintendent of Banglamung Police Station, said a joint task force detained the group for questioning on the evening of 18 May. The operation was led by Pol. Lt. Col. Yongyuth Wanneua, deputy investigation chief; Pol. Lt. Col. Wutthiphong Kasa, investigation inspector; and Pol. Lt. Natthathan Chanthawong, inspector at Tourist Police Station 4, Subdivision 2, Tourist Police Division 1, along with officers from local police, tourist police and immigration police.

During questioning, the suspects admitted attacking the Thai teenager. However, one member of the group alleged that the Thai youth had earlier threatened him with what he believed was a firearm and forced him to hand over a pair of Converse shoes. His friends later arrived and intervened, leading to the confrontation captured on security camera footage.

The group also asked police to examine CCTV footage recorded before the incident to support their claims, insisting they too had been victims. Investigators will question both sides in detail and review all available evidence before deciding whether to pursue charges. Because minors are involved in the case, the investigation will be conducted with relevant agencies and a multi-disciplinary team. Authorities said legal action would be taken against anyone found guilty to ensure fairness for all parties.

Meanwhile, the 'Thai Mai Ton' ('Thais Won't Tolerate') group, led by local figures Hia Tee Kratha Ron and Bird Pattaya, said they were satisfied with the arrests. The group thanked authorities for moving quickly to pursue the case and track down the suspects.

Deputy Transport Minister Pattrapong Pattarapreechit chaired discussions with airline associations to support increased flights to regional airports and boost secondary city economies, while seeking relief measures from Middle East conflict impacts. The meeting included Airports of Thailand Director-General Danai Rueangsan, Thai Civil Aviation Authority Director General Manat Chuwanprayoon, and Thai Airways International Acting Director Surachai Nuprom to promote aviation services at regional airports.

Pattrapong revealed that the discussions represent important public-private sector integration to maximize the capacity of regional airports in the North, Northeast, and South, which currently have growing potential to handle more flights and passengers. The proposed incentives would not only reduce airline operating costs but also create convenient travel options for the public, directly benefiting income distribution and strengthening grassroots economies at the regional level. Airlines are encouraged to consider opening new domestic and international routes, expanding flight frequencies to major and secondary cities through both regular and charter flights.

Airports of Thailand Director-General Danai Rueangsan noted that previous 2025 promotional measures for domestic routes—such as service fee reductions for new routes and airlines—successfully attracted carriers including Thai Lion Air on the Don Mueang-Nakhon Phanom route, Thai Vietjet on Suvarnabhumi-Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Thai AirAsia on Suvarnabhumi to Nakhon Si Thammarat, Buriram, and Narathiwat routes. These measures will be reapplied, and international route promotions are also under consideration.

The meeting also recommended increasing facilities and reducing costs to stimulate more travel from both Thai and foreign tourists, while discussing relief measures from Middle East conflict impacts. Airports of Thailand will initially offer a 50% discount on aircraft parking and landing fees for airlines at its airports for six months, effective June 1 through November 30, 2025.

True Bangkok United has officially secured James Beresford, a 24-year-old Thai-English right back, to strengthen their squad for the 2026/27 season and add depth to their attacking play along the flank.

Beresford began his football career in England and gained experience playing in the National League South with Worthing FC before moving to Thailand to join Udon Thani FC in the 2023/24 season. He was selected for the TOYOTA THAI LEAGUE BEST XI 2023/24 in the right back position following the FA Thailand Awards announcement.

Over three seasons with Udon Thani, Beresford established himself as a consistent key player for the team. He appeared in 97 matches, scoring 2 goals and providing 5 assists, demonstrating his strengths as an attacking right back with pace, bravery, aggression, and effective contribution to the team's offensive play.

At international level, Beresford has been called up to the Thai national team squad, appearing in 4 matches including 1 friendly and 3 matches during the 2024 AFF Championship.

Beresford's arrival will provide additional options for True Bangkok United's right flank play and strengthen the team's defensive line as they prepare for the 2026/27 season campaign.
