US Bakery Goes Viral After Burning 20,000 Baht Cake When Customer Discovers Boyfriend's Infidelity
A Louisiana baker went viral on Instagram after burning a $600 custom cake on video when the customer canceled her boyfriend's birthday party after discovering his infidelity.
A cake decorator in Louisiana, USA has become an internet sensation after an unexpected incident involving a high-value custom birthday cake that was ordered in advance but ended in an unforgettable way.
The cake was worth approximately 600 US dollars, or about 19,700 baht, designed to serve around 75 guests for a female customer's boyfriend's birthday party. However, on the day the cake was ready for delivery, the customer decided to cancel the entire event after suspecting her boyfriend of infidelity, making the large cake unnecessary.
Instead of picking up the cake, the customer asked the baker to "destroy" it on video and offered an additional 100 dollars, or roughly 3,300 baht, as payment for filming the destruction. But the situation took an unexpected turn.
The baker chose a more dramatic and attention-grabbing method, opting to set the cake on fire rather than simply destroying it, and posted the video to Instagram where it went viral instantly. In the clip, the cake decorator also made pointed comments about the birthday boy and offered birthday wishes mixed with criticism of his infidelity, directly naming him and saying, "We don't keep cheaters like this in our lives!"
She later clarified that the customer was the cardholder and her direct employer, that all actions were performed per the customer's request, and that payment had no legal issues. The baker noted she understood the customer's feelings, and the incident reflected a dramatic relationship breakdown where the expensive cake became merely "flames" amid a collapsed relationship.
After the video was released, the online world offered varied reactions. Some viewed it as a symbolic and painful way to "close a relationship," while others questioned the appropriateness of destroying such an expensive cake. One user commented they had never seen a cake burned before but now could check it off their list. Another joked about the customer's satisfaction being "12/10," while another remarked, "You are my hero, and I never knew cakes could catch fire!"
