Man Attacks 61-Year-Old During Morning Jog in Trat

A 32-year-old man attacked a 61-year-old jogger in Trat's Khao Saming district on June 30, beating him with sticks and bamboo poles before loading him onto a motorcycle and fleeing to a durian orchard; police found firearms at the scene but

4h ago Khaosod

On June 30, at 5:08 p.m., local authorities in Thung Nontri subdistrict, Khao Saming district, Trat province received reports of a serious assault. When officers arrived at the scene on Soi Nak Prasit in Moo 9, neither the victim nor the attacker were present. Security camera footage from a nearby residence captured the entire incident clearly. The incident began when a 61-year-old man, whose name is being withheld, started his first morning exercise walk. A 32-year-old man, known as Witwat or Mop (surname withheld), rode up on a Honda PCX motorcycle, engaged the victim in a brief verbal dispute that escalated into a physical fight. When the victim tried to grab a wooden stick to defend himself, Mop overpowered him and struck him repeatedly in the head with the stick until he collapsed. Despite neighbors' attempts to intervene, Mop continued the assault, beating the victim multiple times with a bamboo pole before fleeing on his motorcycle. Minutes later, Mop returned with a sidecar motorcycle, loaded the unconscious man onto it, and fled toward his durian orchard about 750 meters away.

When officers tracked him to the orchard, they found a pool of blood and two firearms—a pistol and a shotgun—placed together. However, there was no trace of the victim. Authorities suspected Mop had thrown the body into a pond at the rear of the orchard and called in divers to search. Police collected both firearms as evidence and launched a coordinated manhunt across neighboring subdistricts. Early reports indicated the sidecar involved in the attack had crashed into a garbage pile near the Tao Hone water reservoir in Huay Raeng subdistrict, Mueang district, but the vehicle was not found when officers checked the location.

Mbappé Hits Brace As France Routs Sweden 3-0

Kylian Mbappé scored twice as France crushed Sweden 3-0 in the World Cup round of 32, moving into a share of the Golden Boot lead with six tournament goals.

5h ago Khaosod

Kylian Mbappé, France's captain, spoke candidly after scoring twice in his team's dominant 3-0 rout of Sweden in the round of 32 on June 30, moving into a share of the Golden Boot lead. The 27-year-old striker has now netted six goals at the 2026 World Cup, tying him with Argentina's Lionel Messi for the tournament's top scorer while surpassing Germany legend Miroslav Klose, who holds the all-time World Cup scoring record with 18 goals.

Following the match, Mbappé reflected on his two-goal performance, saying: "I'm happy, but it's not the most important thing today. We continue to perform excellently."

When asked about the rivalry with Messi, Mbappé downplayed it: "I don't care what Messi does. He always scores. He has scored and he will continue to score. I've said it before—if I want to see what he does, I'd have to do even more."

Mbappé also spoke about his approach to the tournament: "I've said before that I want to fully enjoy this World Cup. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy previous ones, but I was younger then. I was focused on performing at my best. Today, I believe I can do both—perform excellently and enjoy it."

The Real Madrid forward also addressed his gesture of respect toward head coach Didier Deschamps after scoring: "Respect for Deschamps? That's the DNA of this group of players. We all work together. The coach has gone through some unfortunate things that everyone experiences at some point in life. It's incredibly difficult. He won't be alone with us. We'll support him."

Delivery Rider Comes Forward in Thai Flight Attendant Drug Case

A delivery rider came forward to police in Bangkok to deny involvement after his image circulated online linked to a package delivered to a Thai flight attendant arrested in Australia on drug trafficking charges.

5h ago Khaosod

A delivery rider has come forward to police to clear his name after his image circulated online in connection with a package delivered to a Thai airline flight attendant who was arrested in Australia on drug trafficking charges. Kittikorn (surname withheld), a courier for a delivery company, reported to Samrong North Police Station on June 30 to provide a statement and deny any involvement in the case.

The flight attendant became a suspect in an international drug smuggling investigation after Australian police detained her. The rider's image recently surfaced in connection with the delivery made to the air hostess at a condominium in Bang Na. After learning police were searching for the courier, Kittikorn immediately went to Samrong North Police Station to make a formal statement and declare his innocence.

Kittikorn stated he is a delivery company employee who came to police today to clear his name and deny any knowledge or involvement in the matter. He explained he was simply performing his regular job. On the day in question, he delivered over 100 packages, and this particular package was part of his normal route. He rode a motorcycle to deliver it as usual, placing it under the condominium building where the security guard received it—standard procedure for all his deliveries.

After completing the delivery, he continued delivering other packages elsewhere. He emphasized he earned no additional income from this delivery, only his regular company salary. He had been delivering to that recipient named "Meena" since June 23. He said he saw the CCTV footage in the news showing him making the delivery, which prompted him to come forward to prove his innocence.

He learned about the case when journalists came to his warehouse investigating who made the delivery. He confirmed he is a legitimate company employee performing his duties and has worked there for one year and two months. Normally this route belongs to a colleague who takes Tuesdays off, so Kittikorn covers it then. Most packages he delivers weigh nearly a kilogram each. He strongly denied any involvement, knowledge, or supplementary income from other sources, emphasizing he is merely a company employee. When he learned the flight attendant had been arrested, he grew anxious about being implicated, so he came to declare his innocence to Samrong North Police.

Meanwhile, Police Captain Wirojn Tatso, commander of Samrong Police Station, has assigned investigators to interview the rider and gather evidence regarding the package he presented, to trace the origin of the shipment through the private delivery company.

Deschamps Backs Mbappé As France Captain

Didier Deschamps endorsed Kylian Mbappé as France captain after the forward scored twice in a 3-0 win over Sweden, with the team facing Paraguay in the World Cup 2026 Round of 16 on July 4.

5h ago Khaosod

French national team coach Didier Deschamps praised Kylian Mbappé as a suitable captain for France and cautioned that facing Paraguay in the World Cup 2026 Round of 16 will not be easy.

France, the former runner-up, advanced to the final 16 after defeating Sweden 3-0 on June 30. Mbappé scored twice in the match at the 45th and 74th minutes, while Bradley Barcola added a goal at the 53rd minute. France will face Paraguay on July 4.

After the match, Deschamps praised Mbappé's performance, saying: "Kylian knows how to defend. He scores more than anyone. I told you from the start that he has a mission, even if you don't always hear me say it. Even in fitness training, he scores before anyone else."

"I've said for a long time that he understands the role of team captain. The image outsiders may have of him doesn't always reflect his true character—in fact, hardly ever."

The 57-year-old head coach also addressed the upcoming Paraguay clash: "If we maintain this level of focus and determination, we can go as far as possible. We need to do the same thing again in the coming days. Paraguay didn't reach this point by accident. You saw how well they played against Germany, and they have that South American DNA, which intensifies everything, especially in one-on-one duels. Now we'll celebrate this victory first, then focus on Paraguay."
