Germany To Overhaul Operations After 2026 World Cup Elimination
Germany will overhaul its football operations after crashing out of the 2026 World Cup at the group stage, marking the team's third consecutive early elimination from the tournament.
Bernd Neuendorf, president of the German Football Association (DFB), confirmed that the organization will implement significant changes to its operational approach following Germany's disappointing performance at the 2026 World Cup.
Germany's tournament ended at the group stage after a 1-1 draw with Paraguay in extra time, with the team then losing 3-4 on penalties. This marks Germany's third consecutive early elimination from the World Cup.
Neuendorf stated: "We cannot continue to operate in the same way. We will conduct a thorough examination of why our team could not perform to its full potential and failed to meet the expectations of German football. After our World Cup elimination, I had extensive discussions with national team coach Julian Nagelsmann and our sports management team. We all agree that our World Cup performance fell below the standards we set for ourselves. We are all deeply disappointed that our journey ended so quickly."
