Spanish MotoGP rider Alex Márquez of Gresini Racing has undergone emergency surgery following a severe crash at the Catalan Grand Prix in Spain. He sustained a fractured C7 cervical vertebra, with the incident causing such a violent impact that he was launched into the air, prompting race officials to immediately deploy the red flag. The Gresini team has since disclosed that Márquez sustained a slight fracture to the C7 cervical vertebra with additional assessments scheduled for next week. He also suffered a fractured right rib, which required immediate surgical intervention at a Catalonia hospital using metal plates for stabilization.
