Mbappé Dismisses Paraguay, Vows France Ready to Play Dirty

France beat Paraguay 1-0 in the World Cup Round of 16, with captain Mbappé scoring and later dismissing opponents for not wanting to play football while vowing France could match their physical tactics if needed.

2h ago Khaosod

Kylian Mbappé, captain of the French national team, criticized Paraguay for not wanting to play football, while declaring that France is willing to play dirty football if it brings victory.

France defeated Paraguay 1-0 in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 on July 4, with Mbappé scoring the winning goal in the 70th minute.

After the match, Mbappé lashed out at Paraguay's playing style, saying they didn't want to play football but were ready to resort to rough tactics. "Paraguay didn't want to play football, and we showed them that we know how to handle it. We won and we are superior to them," he said.

"They thought we would come in tuxedos and play pretty football, but that's not how it is. We can play dirty football too. If we need to get our hands dirty, we will. Even when playing dirty, we're still superior. They tried to outplay us, but it was us who outplayed them."

Mbappé has now scored 7 goals in this World Cup, sharing the Golden Boot with Lionel Messi, the striker for Argentina's national team.

Canada's men's football team exited the 2026 World Cup after a 0-3 loss to Morocco in the round of 16, but vowed the nation's football journey is just beginning following their historic knockout stage appearance as co-host.

3h ago Khaosod

Canada's national football team posted on Instagram following their elimination from the 2026 World Cup, thanking supporters and expressing confidence that this is just the beginning for the country's football program.

Mbappé Nets Golden Goal as France Advances Past Paraguay

Kylian Mbappé scored a penalty in the 70th minute to lead France past Paraguay 1-0 in a 2026 World Cup round-of-16 match in Philadelphia, advancing France to the quarterfinals.

3h ago Khaosod

In the 2026 World Cup round-of-16 match on the morning of July 5, 2569 at Philadelphia Stadium in the United States, Paraguay faced France. France dominated possession and attacked more than expected, while Paraguay played an organized, defensive approach by sitting deep. This made it difficult for France to break through Paraguay's defensive line. The turning point came in the 70th minute when France earned a penalty kick, which Kylian Mbappé converted flawlessly to give France a 1-0 lead. This was Mbappé's seventh goal of the tournament, taking the golden boot lead over Argentina's Lionel Messi, who has scored six goals, though Mbappé has two assists to his credit. It was also Mbappé's 19th goal in World Cup history across all tournaments. In the remaining time, Paraguay opened up their attack to seek an equalizer, while France controlled the ball and managed the tempo of the match, occasionally launching counterattacks. The final score remained 1-0, with France advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup. France will face Morocco on July 9, 2569 at 03:00 (early morning on July 10, 2569).

Simon: Ronaldo Still Dangerous Despite Past Prime

Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon warns that Cristiano Ronaldo remains a threat in the penalty area ahead of their 2026 World Cup knockout clash on July 7, despite the Portuguese star's decline from his peak years.

4h ago Khaosod

Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon stated that Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar, remains dangerous even though he is no longer at his peak. Spain will face Portugal in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 on July 7 at 2:00 AM Thailand time. In recent comments, Simon discussed Ronaldo, saying: "He's not the same player he was six or seven years ago during his peak, but we must try our best to keep him away from the penalty area as much as possible." "Inside the box, he can create chances for himself. With his experience, he understands exactly what he needs to do. He likes to stay near the penalty spot and reads those situations very well." Simon also addressed issues Spain needs to correct from their recent UEFA Nations League match against Portugal, which they lost on penalties. "We didn't play smoothly. Their pressure was very intense. If we get eliminated, I hope it's because they played better than us, not because we failed to reach our level."
