Suchai Chomklin said that, according to the latest reports, Rayong province has flood‑affected areas in 18 points across four districts—Mueang Rayong, Klaeng, Ban Khai and Khao Chamao—with water depths ranging from 30 to 80 centimetres. The areas still requiring monitoring and assistance include the sub‑districts of Ching Ngoen, Tha Pradu, Noen Phra, Thap Ma, Baen Laeng, Ta Pong, Ban Na, Thung Kwai Kin, Tha Klaeng and Wang Wa. Meanwhile, many areas have begun to improve and no injuries or deaths have been reported.
Shelters have been set up in 4 districts, totalling 54 centres that can accommodate more than 2,800 evacuees, with over 2,000 in Klaeng district and nearly 300 in Mueang Rayong. Officials and equipment have been mobilised to drain water and reach affected communities. The minister stressed that the government’s top priority is looking after flood‑hit residents, and the field visit aims to monitor water levels, drainage and living conditions while coordinating all agencies to work as a single team for swift, comprehensive aid.
After the meeting, Suchai Chomklin and his team visited flood‑hit residents in the Tambon Thap Ma municipality of Mueang Rayong district, delivering relief kits and necessities and checking on conditions at the local shelter, which houses 288 people. He listened directly to their problems and needs and urged officials to provide full care.
He said that on this day he brought 600 food packs for distribution and deployed three mobile kitchen trucks—two in Mueang Rayong and one in Klaeng—to ensure sufficient meals for those affected by the flooding.
Regarding recovery and compensation, Suchai noted that the Prime Minister has approved approximately 4 billion baht from the central budget to help and compensate flood victims nationwide, based on damage assessments submitted by local agencies. Assistance will not end when the waters recede; once water levels drop, his ministry will assign agencies to clean up, repair and rehabilitate homes so residents can return and resume normal life as quickly as possible.
Suchai added that he will continue to monitor the situation, especially areas still inundated, and will speed up drainage efforts.
