Natural Resources Minister Orders Flood Relief Across Thailand

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchat Chomklin expressed concern for residents suffering from flooding across multiple regions and ordered all department units in the Central and Eastern regions and nationwide to work closely with provincial and local administrations to provide urgent assistance. This includes mobilizing staff, water pumps, and equipment while opening department facilities as temporary shelters and parking areas for flood victims.
Forestry Department Director General Nikorn Siroroj acknowledged the orders and established an emergency coordination center to prepare for the 2025 monsoon season and provide swift assistance. All offices have been instructed to prepare personnel, materials, equipment, and vehicles while coordinating with local agencies to respond immediately to emergencies.
The Department of Forestry's Regional Office 9 in Prachuap Khiri Khan has intensified operations in Khao Chakri District, Sa Kaew Province, and Sanam Chai District, Chachoengsao Province, where staff have coordinated with local administration and government organizations to evacuate residents, particularly vulnerable groups including the elderly, disabled, and children, to safe locations. Personnel are also relocating belongings to higher ground as heavy rainfall has cut off major routes and water levels in Phraa Sa Thoeng Canal have overflowed into surrounding areas by approximately 100-120 centimeters.
The minister emphasized that all department units must monitor water conditions 24 hours daily and maintain readiness with personnel and vehicles to provide continuous relief until conditions return to normal.
